6 Steps Toward Getting Your Kansas Salesperson License

1

Complete Pre-Licensing Education.

First-time licensee candidates in Kansas are required to take two pre-licensing courses. The first is a 30-hour Kansas Principles of Real Estate Course which must be completed before you take the licensing exam. The second course is a 30-hour Real Estate Practice Course which must be completed after the first course, but can also be taken after the exam.

Successfully pass the course final exam.

After you complete all the course material and pass the practice exam, you’ll be prepared to take a 110-question final exam. The minimum passing score is 90%.

Choose a sponsoring broker to support you through the process.

To start a career in real estate in Kansas you must have a broker to sponsor you through the licensing process and provide you with a launch pad for your new career. This broker will be a career and education mentor providing you with an inside view into the day-to-day operations of a real estate agent. Do your research and find a brokerage that reflects your values, interests, and market niche. Remember that you’ll represent the broker you choose, and they will represent you.

It’s important to find a good fit when picking a broker to work with and it’s a key factor to becoming a successful KS real estate agent. The following questions will help you find the right broker:

  • What is their reputation, both locally and nationally?
  • What kind of real estate agents are they looking for?
  • Are they technologically advanced and up-to-date with the latest systems?
  • How do they support their agents with education and training?
  • What kind of commission structure do they offer?
  • Do they offer benefits?
  • Do they provide their agents with leads and marketing material?
  • Is there room to grow with the brokerage?

Schedule the Kansas salesperson licensing exam via Pearson VUE.

Complete the online application via the Kansas Real Estate Commision Online Licensing system.

Receive licensing approval and get issued a license for Kansas.
